310 Update

An update is long overdue, and for that I sincerely apologize… but my news is bittersweet. Shortly after my last post I accepted an assistant position in the Electronic department of a major booking agency. Long story short, I simply don’t have the time or energy to deliver updates as consistently anymore. There’s absolutely nothing I enjoy more than sharing new music with my readers. Nothing. Which is why I refuse to give up on this blog. I will work through this, which is why I’m kindly asking you all for your patience. 310 Electro will never die, and I’m closer to ground-zero in this industry than I’ve ever been before. As I work my way up the ranks, the content will only get richer. I’m in an awkward transitionary phase that will soon end, and I hope that each and every one of you will be here when I return. Long live EDM, and long live 310.

Best,

Alex K (Kopedale)

AVICII – Levels (Cazzette & Skrillex Remixes)

Now that Levels final dropped, the remixes can start pouring out… because you know they will. The official word for the first remix package came out last week via Avicii’s Soundcloud page when these two previews were uploaded. So what’s in store? The highly anticipated Skrillex remix, and the highly impressive remix from Alexander Björklund and Sebastian Furrer of Cazzette. I’m yawning at the Skrillex remix, but that’s because I’m not a dubstep guy… doesn’t mean I don’t respect it though. He’s one hell of a producer, and now he has the grammy nominations to back it up. Well deserved. I am drooling over the remix from Cazzette though. Talk about turning an anthem into a banger. This seems to be the year of the Swedes, and with Avicii’s manager taking on two more young Swedes with Cazzette, it sounds like 2012 will be as well. Stay tuned for this remix package hitting Universal Music a week from today on Dec 20th.

Northbrook – Move Your Body (fRew & Tommie Sunshine Remixes)

When fRew sat me down a couple months ago and played me this remix of Northbrook’s ‘Move Your Body,’ I instantly loved it, and this was with it playing out of his Macbook Pro speakers… Since then I’ve been itching to share the tune with my readers, so being able to today makes me a happy camper. When I first heard the track it was introduced to me as a Ryan Riback remix, so I was a bit confused when I saw Northbrook listed as the original Artist. So who is Northbrook? It turns out just a name for the collaboration between Ryan Riback and vocalist Rachel Elberg. There’s no release date listed yet, but Sweat It Out!, the label behind Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP’s ‘We No Speak Americano’ is behind this one. To spice things up, I’ve thrown in the remix from Tommie Sunshine, which brings me back about 5 years to the type of house that was smashing clubs back in ’06. Silversix and Jeff Drake get in on the remix fun as well, to hear their mixes check out this post from Global PR Pool.

Felguk vs Dirtyloud – NUDGE (Original Mix)

I’ve been waiting for this Felguk-Dirtyloud collaboration to happen for a while now. Just like with the recent Hardwell-Nicky Romero collab, I couldn’t understand why it took so long for them to get into the studio together (same country, same genre, similar ages and production techniques). Anyways, whenever two big time producers get together on one track, the result is usually large… but when 4 heavy-hitting Brazilian producers get together on one track, the result is just massive. Out December 12th on Felguk’s Dongle Records, prepare yourselves for the winter smash ‘NUDGE!’

“After storming into DJ Mag’s Top 100 poll in October, Gustavo and Felipe of Felguk have been steadfast in the studio, already releasing 2 big EPs this fall with ‘Jack It’ and ‘Bassive.’ Now, the guys have collaborated with fellow Brazilian Electro House duo, Dirtyloud, for the next monster winter hit, ‘NUDGE,’ out on Dongle Records Monday, December 12th.

The combined production prowess from this native Brazlian quartet ensures that ‘NUDGE’ delivers multiple shades of the Electro spectrum. Evil yet sublime, moody yet direct, ‘NUDGE’ takes the listener on an epic adventure that one can only expect from the Felguk sound.

As usual, a must for any big stage or grungy basement!” – Felguk’s SoundCloud

Nicky Romero – Toulouse (Original Mix)

Okay, this track is just f**cking nuts…. Nicky Romero always brings the heat in his productions, but I was NOT expecting anything like this. It sounds like a mixture of Tommy Trash, Hardwell, and Nicky Romero all rolled up into one big doobie. There’s no release date on this tune yet, but it received its first official play on Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show today, and should be arriving shortly via Spinnin Records. We’ll keep you posted.

Insomniac’s White Wonderland + Kaskade Mash Ups

Well folks, it’s official. Just 9 days after Insomniac’s CEO & founder Pasquale Rotella tweeted to 21+ year olds in Cali that they should hold off on NYE plans, we’re introduced to America’s first all-white themed electronic music festival, White Wonderland. Talk about a quick turnaround. With 99% of the world’s electronic talent already booked for the biggest pay day of the year, only a magician like Rotella could have pulled this one off. The event will be held over two days at the Anaheim Convention Center, which sits only 35 minutes from LA (much more convenient than trekking over to San Bernardino’s NOS Events Center, that’s forshure). So what does the talent look like? Pretty darn good for a last minute scramble. And yes, tickets are already on sale. To purchase them and read more about the event, check out this official press release.

Saturday 12/31/11
6-7pm – Trent Cantrelle
7-8pm – Dada Life
8-9:45pm – Kaskade
9:45-12am – Benny Benassi
12-2am – Paul van Dyk

Sunday 1/1/12 – SIZE MATTERS
7-8pm – Tara Brooks
8-10pm – Thomas Gold
10-12am – AN21 & Max Vangeli
12-2am – Steve Angello

For those of you wondering how Kaskade is gonna pull off two gigs in one night, he was given an early set time to make sure he has time to board his private jet and get to Marquee Vegas in time. Talk about living the life. I’m posting two of his most recent mash ups in homage to that move. Well played sir, well played…

fRew – Grandfather Clock EP

Here’s a feature that was supposed to go up a week ago today, but was delayed with everything surrounding the Thanksgiving Holiday. Anyways, I can’t stress enough how proud I am of the homie James Frew… who wrote, produced, and engineered these little numbers all by his lonesome. With support in writing from Tiesto, Lazy Rich, Plump DJs, Sgt Slick, and Taurus & Vaggeli, further proof of how solid of an EP this is isn’t necessary. As the 4th release out on fRew’s newly formed fRewition Records, his Grandfather Clock EP introduces us to the dirtier side of James’ productions. Stay tuned for more releases from fRew coming shortly!

“fRewition Records presents Grandfather Clock EP. Inspired by the complex inner mechanics of this old fashioned time piece. ‘Grandfather Clock’ will leave your dance floor peeps lost in the moment, hands raised screaming ‘WTF!’. Accompanying this release is ‘Let’s Go Disco’ a straight to the point funk fueled party starter.” – SoundCloud

Michael Calfan – Resurrection (Axwell’s Recut Club Version)

Any time that you see Axwell’s name on a track you know that you’re in for something special. When I first heard this track on Swedish’s takeover of Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show I wasn’t in love with it, but it’s grown on me substantially since then. As I prepare to see Axwell this Saturday at the Hollywood Palladium, I can’t help but blast this one in anticipation. Out 2 days ago via Axtone Records, prepare yourselves for Axwell’s Recut Club Version of Michael Calfan’s ‘Resurrection.’

“After a release break over the European Summer Axtone returns with a rather special track in the form of ‘Resurrection’ by Michael Calfan. Originally debuted by Axwell on Radio 1 as part of the Swedish House Mafia takeover on Pete Tong’s legendary Friday Night show, ‘Resurrection’ has become a stand out track in both his & his fellow mafioso’s sets with the online community clamouring for news of its release. A new name to most this young Frenchman is the protege of his compatriot and dance music royalty Bob Sinclar ‘it was long since I had felt such good vibes with a young artist’, Michael has had several releases on Bob’s Yellow Productions. ‘Resurrection’ is the 1st of a string of releases forthcoming on Axtone with releases planned from Thomas Gold, Arty, Mattise & Sadko, Hard Rock Sofa, Henrik B ft Rudy and more…” – Beatport

Felguk – Bassive (Original Mix)

The releases are really starting to roll out for Felipe and Gustavo of Felguk, who are building quite the discography for their new label Dongle Records. Since the duo said bye bye to BugEyed Records (the Toronto-based label that helped them climb high up the electro ladder), they have released some SERIOUS heaters. They kicked off the label debut with ‘Blow Out,’ followed that up with their Jack It EP, and two weeks ago released the Blow Out Remix EP (which featured Lazy Rich’s epic remix), but it doesn’t stop there. Out today on Beatport we get the 4th Dongle release, cleverly titled ‘Bassive.’ And the result? Massive! Wait, I mean ‘Bassive!’

“Sticking to their take-no-prisoners big-room style, Felguk’s ‘BASSIVE’ incorporates a wonky melodic breakdown before tearing the roof off with a signature naughty, crunchy synth that Felguk has become so well known for. One to slay any festival tent.” – Felguk’s YouTube Channel
